The United States Senate has voted overwhelmingly to create a Nuclear Fuel Security Program, aimed at increasing domestic supplies of uranium. The bipartisan Nuclear Fuel Security Act was passed by a vote of 96-3 for inclusion in the fiscal year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act. The Nuclear Fuel Security Act of 2023 establishes a program to increase domestic production and ensure the availability of domestically produced uranium. This move is seen as an important step towards reducing reliance on foreign sources and strengthening national security. Hopefully this will be a positive development for the domestic production of uranium in the United States.
