The Sunset Advisory Commission will be finalizing their recommendations for the TBPG and presenting them on November 14, 2018. Their agenda can be found at: https://www.sunset.texas.gov/public/uploads/files/meetings/agendas/Sunset%20Agenda_November%2014%20Meeting.pdf
The decision recommendations to be voted on can be found at: https://www.sunset.texas.gov/public/uploads/files/meetings/Decision%20Meeting%20Materials_November.pdf – on pages 19-21.
The November 14, 2018 meeting is open to the public, but no testimony will be taken. The Texas Geoscience Council has been working diligently to help keep the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists and many of the decision recommendations are the result, although not all. The decision recommendations will be voted on individually, so there’s always the possibility that some may be voted down. It’d be best if we come out of this meeting with a set of recommendations that are agreeable to us. The Texas Sunset Advisory Commission is highly respected in the legislature and their recommendations are often difficult to fight in the legislature.
A number of geologists from various organizations are planning on attending, including myself, and more are welcome to attend to show support. If your representative or senator is on the Sunset Commission, you can express your concern/support for any of the decision recommendations, but only if you are in their district. If you do contact them please be very polite, respectful, and professional.
