The Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) met on May 18, 2012. The following is a brief synopsis of the highlights.
There are currently 1830 licensed Texas Professional Geoscientists.
Proposed amendment to 22 TAC §851.29 regarding “cooperative licensure” was passed despite most public comments were against granting reciprocity to PG’s from states that Texas has no reciprocity agreement with.
A proposal for amending 22 TAC §851.104 (d), regarding dishonest practice was passed. Originally, the proposal was to remove it completely, but since the object of concern was the word “agency”, since it would include the TBPG, it was decided that only the word would be removed.
For the Continuing Education Program audits you’ll need to give the number of credits, title of the talk and speaker’s name, plus evidence of attendance. This can be a certificate issued by the organization sponsoring the talk, a copy of the sign-in sheet, or a receipt showing the talk and date.
An amendment to 22 TAC §851.156 regarding Professional Geoscientist’s Seals was approved. Basically, if the map, drawings, cross sections or other figures representing geoscientific work, regardless of their size or binding can be separated from the rest of the report, it needs to be sealed. Personally, I always seal these anyway, in case someone decides to photocopy them.
The outreach and compliance plan originally drafted by former member Glenn Lowenstein will be reviewed and continued to be used. Outreach to the TCEQ and Railroad Commission and Underground Injection Group of the TCEQ will also continue.
14 complaints were processed last month.
