- The Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) has adopted an amendment to 22 TAC §851.32, regarding continuing education program. The amendment is adopted without changes to the proposed text as published in the October 3, 2008, issue of the Texas Register (33 TexReg 8279). The adopted amendment clarifies that continuing education activities will not be pre-approved or endorsed by the Board, but that it is the responsibility of each licensee to ensure their continuing education activities meet the requirements established by the Board.

- The TBPG also has adopted an amendment to 22 TAC §851.80, regarding fees. The amendment is adopted without changes to the proposed text as published in the October 3, 2008, issue of the Texas Register (33 TexReg 8281). The adopted amendment allows licensees who are 65 years or older to retain their license at a reduced cost to them, ensuring that qualified and licensed persons and entities continue practicing geoscience before the public. This fee will be equal to one-half the yearly renewal fee, and will be effective for those licenses that expire after March 1, 2009. As the current renewal fee is $168, those who hold a license that expires after the effective date and have reached 65 years of age by the date of their license expiration will be eligible to pay a fee of $84 to renew.
