 Description:\n \n Course Description: This one day
  course uses lecture and group exercise format to 
 introduce the basics of carbonate reservoir charac
 terization.&nbsp\; It emphasizes rock typing and i
 ntegration of Geology with quantitative petrophysi
 cal techniques.&nbsp\; Although the principles tau
 ght are critical for geological modeling\, it is n
 ot a modeling course.&nbsp\; Time constraints also
  limit extensive integration of seismic datasets.&

  Speaker Bio:\n \n Dr. Bill Raatz\, Occidental Pet
 roleum\n \n \n \n Bio:&nbsp\; Bill Raatz is curren
 tly an Oxy Fellow with Occidental Petroleum.&nbsp\
 ; Past positions with Oxy include Worldwide Chief 
 Geologist and Director of Geosciences.&nbsp\; Bill
 &rsquo\;s specialties are carbonate depositional s
 ystems\, stratigraphy and reservoir characterizati
 on\, which he has applied extensively in the Permi
 an Basin and Middle East. He teaches short courses
  in reservoir characterization\, sedimentary petro
 graphy\, core interpretation\, and field trips to 
 New Mexico\, West Texas\, and Oman.\n \n Bill has 
 served AAPG as a Search and Discovery editor and a
 s a member of the Corporate Advisory Board.&nbsp\;
  He has published numerous papers and edited speci
 al publications on the geology of the Permian Basi
 n region.\n \n Bill previously worked for ARCO Int
 ernational Exploration\, ARCO Alaska\, Phillips Al
 aska\, and New Mexico Tech University.&nbsp\; He r
 eceived his BS and MS in Geology from the Universi
 ty of Iowa\, and his PhD from the University of Wi
 sconsin-Madison. \n \n &nbsp\;\n \n &nbsp\;
