It begins by guiding participants through the development of a geomechanical model\, covering the necessary data\, methods\, and workf lows. The second segment delves into applying quan titative geomechanical analyses to evaluate and mi nimize subsurface risks linked to injection and st orage. Key topics include thermal stresses\, induc ed seismicity\, fault reactivation\, as well as se al and wellbore integrity. Finally\, the course co ncludes with global case studies that highlight pr actical examples showcasing the impact of geomecha nics in CCS projects.\n \n  \;\n \n \n \n &nbs p\;\n \n Bios of instructors:\n \n Ewerton Araujo\ , PhD &ndash\; Senior Consultant Geomechanics spec ialist with 20+ years in the oil and gas industry. Ewerton started as an R&\;D engineer before jo ining GeoMechanics International\, where he worked on projects in the Americas\, Middle East\, and A frica. After that\, he joined Equinor as the SME f or geomechanics of USA and Canada assets\, and fol lowing that\, was hired by BHP to implement and de velop the geomechanics discipline in the Petroleum business. His expertise covers all geomechanics-r elated aspects of planning wells\, drilling\, comp letions\, operation\, and abandonment\, in additio n to reservoir geomechanics during exploration\, a ppraisal\, and production.\n \n  \;\n \n Fermi n Fernandez-Ibanez\, PhD - Senior Consultant Geosc ientist with 15+ years of experience in Developmen t\, Production\, and Research &\; Technology. S tructural geology and geomechanics expert. He work ed as geomechanics consultant for GeoMechanics Int ernational before joining ExxonMobil where he beca me corporate SME for fractured reservoirs. He also has experience in geothermal and CCS projects. Fe rmin has worked assets around the world\, includin g SE Asia (PNG\, Vietnam\, Indonesia\, Australia-N Z\, Malaysia)\, South America (Colombia\, Argentin a\, Mexico\, Brazil pre-salt)\, Europe/Caspian (Ka zakhstan\, West Med)\, Kurdistan\, Gulf of Mexico\ , and Canada.\n \n  \;\n \n Jorge Pastor\, PhD - Senior Consultant Geomechanics specialist with 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry . Jorge started his career as R&\;D engineer de veloping geomechanical simulators for Petrobras. I n 2004\, he joined Schlumberger where he was direc tly involved in 1D and 3D projects for Brazil\, Me xico\, Colombia\, and USA. Later\, he joined BHP i n Houston where he led the development of coupled 3D projects for multiple Gulf of Mexico fields. He used these models for wellbore stability\, sandin g\, compaction/subsidence\, cap/casing integrity a nd fault reactivation analyses. His expertise also includes interpretation and QC of rock mechanics tests as well as software development.\n \n CATEGORIES:Lectures and Courses CALSCALE:GREGORIAN DTSTAMP;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20250424T080000 DTSTART;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20250424T080000 DTEND;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20250424T120000 LOCATION:Zoom Virtual Meeting\n United States\n URL:https://www.hgs.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=2649 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
