The curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the fund amentals necessary for effective basin analysis. P articipants will delve into the key principles of basin modeling\, exploring topics such as Petroleu m Systems\, thermal history\, hydrocarbon generati on\, migration\, and preservation mechanisms.\n \n  \;Key Learning Objectives:\n \n \n Building the Physical Model: Understand the geological pro cesses shaping sedimentary basins and their implic ations for basin modeling and the Petroleum System \n Building the Thermal Model: Learn the principl es of thermal modeling to assess the history of te mperature changes within the basin\, crucial for u nderstanding hydrocarbon maturation.\n Building t he Generative Model: Explore the mechanisms of hyd rocarbon generation\, migration\, accumulation and preservation\, essential for predicting potential reservoirs.\n \n \n By the end of this course\, p articipants will be well-equipped to apply basin m odeling techniques in real-world scenarios\, enabl ing them to make informed decisions in the explora tion and development of hydrocarbon resources. Whe ther you are a seasoned geoscientist or a professi onal seeking to enhance your skills\, this course provides a solid foundation for effective basin an alysis.\n \n  \;\n \n About the Instructor Ang el Callejon\n \n Petroleum Systems Assessment Spec ialist\n \n https://www.linkedin.com/in/callejon\n \n Angel joined the oil industry in 1988 after te aching geology five and half years at Universidad Central de Venezuela. Since then\, has been applyi ng geochemistry and basin modeling for exploration at PDVSA\, UH\, PRA\, ExxonMobil and Equinor with in a Basin Genetics framework and most recently fo r production where he used basin modeling and geoc hemistry to predict GOR and PVT properties in unco nventional plays. Angel also developed a chemo-str atigraphic framework for the Austin Chalk\, Eagle Ford\, and Buda Formations to characterize and dri ll sweet spots within the unconventional plays.\n \n Since late 2015 Angel has been an independent c onsultant in geochemistry and petroleum systems an alysis for petroleum exploration and production\, and recently accruing expertise in carbon capture\ , geological storage and monitoring.\n \n Angel is well published\, a reviewer for the Journal of Ma rine and Petroleum Geology\, Organic Geochemistry and AAPG journals\, and has lectured on the topic of Petroleum Systems at the University of Houston for the past 15 years. Angel joined the Houston Ge ological Society&rsquo\;s Continuing Education Com mittee early 2023 and is the actual chairperson of the committee\n \n  \; CATEGORIES:Lectures and Courses CALSCALE:GREGORIAN DTSTAMP;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20241202T070000 DTSTART;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20241202T070000 DTEND;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20241210T080000 LOCATION:Zoom Virtual Meeting\n United States\n URL:https://www.hgs.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=2624 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
