Improve & accelerate your history matching through use of modern optimization methods.

The process of validating flow simulation models by history matching has traditionally been a cumbersome and time-consuming process. The arrival of modern assisted history matching techniques using global optimizers has delivered better results, speeded-up the process, and allowed staff to devote their time to more value-adding activities than history matching.

But many of these workflows treat the static model (or geological model) in isolation from the dynamic model (or flow simulation model); so static model properties become modified with multipliers for permeability, fault transmissibility, etc. There are significant issues with this process: it is not usually geologically rigorous; and it breaks the “audit trail’ in the workflow. A more rigorous approach is to make modifications in the static model as part of an optimization workflow, then feed the static model directly to the dynamic model in the same computing process.

With MEPO technology from SPT, geologists & engineers can work together to deliver better history-matched models using industry-leading software more quickly than ever before.
